As a "teacher" in our home, I think the highlight was dissecting the owl pellet. As a mommy though, I just loved seeing my daughter build a cell with a rug, yarn, and Legos! Just too sweet! I also loved watching my son, who was supposed to be studying "[*****] General Science" because he wanted to do science by himself last year, look longingly at my daughter and I snuggled on the couch giggling over CKEB! Within 2 weeks, my son gave up his textbook and joined us on the couch! :)I think the most rewarding part of this approach was watching my children apply what they learned in science in our lives, especially the classification system. It also helped them see that "seeing" is the biggest part of science. Just knowing that there is science all around us made them look even harder.
This weekend we took a mini-trip to St. Mary's, GA for the afternoon and the children were just fascinated by so many things ... the tidal motion, the floating dock, the wakes made by the boats (I heard them question one another, "Are the waves moving the dock or the concrete piling and why?"), discussing and discovering where the water in the rocks on the shore was coming from that the birds were drinking since they knew birds wouldn't drink salty water, and the shrieks of "EW! What are THOSE?" and then looking closer to see what they might be (they were called Sea Roaches according to the ranger). EW!
The children were curious before, but I think CKEB gave them some more of those "hooks to hang their discoveries on" so they are looking even harder.

My son is almost eight and we enjoy CKEB together. The information is
just enough for him to remember clearly, yet also perk his interest to
explore further on his own. I have seen this book propel him into
self-motivated research, art, story-writing, and reading. It has gotten
him excited about creation science and continues to "prove" to him that
God is the Creator and this marvelous world did not just happen by accident. He
always asks to do Science first! I recommend this book
highly as a great spine text that allows children to walk out their own
interests.

My two boys, ages 8 and 11, and I are in our first year of homeschooling and LOVE CKEB. After trying another science curriculum that was too technical and complicated we have enjoyed the simple and straightforward nature of the lessons that give gentle emphasis on God's hand in nature. Without too much information to concentrate on they are retaining more and having fun exploring topics further through the suggested activities and doing research in the resources suggested for further reading.

I just wanted to say thank you! I have been homeschooling for 6 years and
I have finally found a science curriculum that I can realistically use with
all of my children. On top of that it is Christ centered, well researched
and has the best book list I have ever seen for science. We stress a
literature based approach in our home and /Christian Kids Explore Biology/
is an answer to my prayers.
Again, thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Alisa
