How Do You Illuminate: FSGs?Tyler Hogan
Hands down the FSGs (Family Study Guides) are my family’s favorite part of Illuminations. At my house I usually read to my kids while they are eating lunch. I don’t print out the FSG, I prefer to read the questions from my lap top computer. Then any hands-on or writing is done right after lunch. Since I don’t home-school in a perfect world, here are some things I have done to keep the home-school moving. I read during breakfast and lunch, even bedtime if needed to get the reading done. Sometimes my oldest children take turns reading out loud in the car on our way to various activities. If things get really behind and I need the book to be done, I have the children each take turns reading the book to themselves, they narrate to me the ending, and then we go over a few questions together. Also, since we don’t have high speed internet, I do save all the online ideas for the week until Friday when we can get to a high speed connection and do them all together. This year we have really focused on the food ideas, while last year we focused more projects.
