Hi. I just found Illuminations this year and I am excited about using it next year. This was our first year using MOH! My kids LOVED it! History became fun! I would really love to “win” a free copy of MOH II. Thanks for the consideration.
Blessings, S. Kettering
smjlangley would love this!!
Hi,
I’m getting ready to purchase Illuminations and am SO excited! I love the format and can’t wait to tie in biblical history with world events….I wish I had been taught this way as a kid 🙂
Thanks for a great product.
I’m trying to think about posts that would help me as I use Illuminations. I often get steam up and do schooling very well and then sort of get off track …suddenly we are behind, etc.
I could use a little pep talk once in a while:) Maybe to read/see how other people have used the creative portions…
or even hear people talk about a different section of Illuminations each week? Taking it in all at once gets overwhelming, but hearing about say, the geography portion one week and another the next would be a helpful series i think.
I love my Illuminations!
Hey Stacey!
I learned about Illuminations through the MOH website. How exciting! I would like to read about users reviews as well as what they feel are the pros and cons (if any) in the program. I’d like to know more about how others set up their Illuminations school day and how long the program takes different homeschoolers to complete. Any beginner advice or tips would also be greatly appreciated! Also, I have wondered how easy it is to teach multiple grades under Illuminations.
Many Blessings,
Christy
We LOVE Illuminations! Hmmnn..What would I like to see blogged about….I’d like to see samples of some other people’s projects, ideas of how to group some parts of the curriculum together for when we are behind and need to smoosh things to get back on track, I’d lvoe motivational stuff, particularly in the spring!, how about ideas to balance life and school, organizational ideas, motivational ideas, what to do when the kiddos get bored, field trip ideas, something to laugh about!! How is that for a to-do list!
I’d love to be entered in a drawing for a scratch and dent copy of MOH.
I love reading blogs written by fellow homeschoolers or friends. Some things I’ve loved in the past have been tips on accomplishing something, a funny story of something that happened in your family or a more serious story with a lesson. I love hearing how people have different styles of homeschooling and how they do it in their family. The funny stories are cute. My kids do and say funny things too.
I’m also always looking for good reviews on possible curriculum. Since I’m just beginning, I like hearing how others have done it.
thanks for the opportunity.
Hi! I would love to be entered in the drawing for the MOHII books!!! We are so enjoying to MOH 1 this year.
Thanks
Trudy Osborn
I heard about Illuminations from the MOH yahoo group when it first hit the market.
I would like to see discussions of how to keep focused. It is easy to do the “3 R’s” and let the extra or enrichment activities slide.
Also, how to effectively utilize Illuminations with kids who are less than enthusiastic about it–how to stimulate/encourage their interest, so to speak!
Cindy (aka savmom)
I would love to be entered in the drawing for the Mystery of History book. Thanks!!

I am using MOH vol. 1 this Fall, would love to have a copy of MOH vol. 2 for the following year. I also have and love Christian Kids Explore to go along.
I’ve been looking for a program that I can with all my children (1st grade – HS) and Illuminations looks like the answer to my search! Looking forward to finding out more from other experienced users!
I have heard about Illuminations from a very dear friend who has my family jazzed about our homeschooling plan for next year- already! Very much looking forward to using MOH and Illuminations and so grateful for this program that seems to take most of the work off us mommies and co-op teachers. Thanks for the blessing!
I am really looking forward to using Illuminations this coming year. I agree with Heather that the school year starts off well but we start to lose focus and get behind. I would love to see info not only on what people are doing or have done, but from those who already know what they are doing next week or next month on your ideas so they could help give me fresh ideas to stay motivated.
Oooo, how about how to use with multiple aged hooligans?? Even young ones who will not. stop. singing.
Would love to win a copy of this!
I have not used illuminations but am considering it for next year with MOH2. I teach at a coop and am wondering if it would be useful for that. I have taught it before so it would mean redoing somethings but yes I seem to always be tweaking and changing things to make them better!!
I am very excited about MOH and I am planning to start next year. I have spent many hours of research finding the right history program. MOH is just perfect. It has every thing that I thought we’d need and then some! I love that it is Biblical and that it covers all civilizations. I am looking forward to learning just as much as my children. I can’t wait to do a timeline….I always wanted to do that since my brain can put all the snippets of knowledge together.
I am on a Mystery of History chat group. We have young children and MOH is the perfect balance of time, structure and flexibility for our family of 5 ages 10 on down. I keep hearing references to Illuminations from families using it in conjunction with MOH and am intrigued but with 5 kids and a single income at a factory in MI we must be very careful how we spend our tiny education budget. I look forward to finding someone with Illuminations or seeing the material at the Mid-Winter Conference in MI if it’s there.
Hi! I would love to know more about Illuminations! There are sooo many curriculums out there that it is very confusing for new homeschoolers! I’ve used the same thing for the last few years, just because I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in an ‘unknown’. I wish we could see the items before buying them! Can you come to our homeschool group next year & demo?
Thanks!!!!
You know, I was SO looking for a comprehensive, chronological biblical history program that integrated literature, and was so blessed by the advent of Illuminations! It really helps those of us who just didn’t get a good grounding in a Christian outlook on history in school (and that’s very few of us I’m sure!)
I really loved Maggie’s post about atlases, and I know moms often have questions about the timeline – maybe you could do a post about that…with pictures? And share various approaches and techniques :).
I’m actually just beginning to look into using Illuminations. We’ve stepped away from traditional homeschooling and have been cyberschooling for the last year (a good option at the time but definitely not my comfort zone). Illuminations comes highly recommended by a good friend, so I’ve been perusing the websites/blog for more information on whether this fits our learning and teaching styles as a curriculum, or whether just MOH would be best as asupplement to something else. So I hesitate to comment on what I’d like to see (since I’m so new) but a free copy of the book would *definitely* bless our family, no matter how we end up using it!
Thanks for your hard work blogging about your experiences. It makes it easier for us newbies to gain a better understanding of the program and set realistic expectations. 🙂
Erica/Sierra Mama
Thanks! This is a great giveaway!
YAY! I was so happy to find out about Illuminations although we aren’t using it yet–we are definitely looking at III for 2011-2012 if it’s out and we’re starting to use the booklists this next year for moh II. We love moh and have trouble not chasing a LOT of rabbit trails. IT would be good to see all the little trails everyone chases–lapbooks, unit studies, etc., although that would not help us stay on track ~LOL~
THANK YOU!!

HI !!
I have not used THIS history program yet, but with all that I’m being told about it, I CAN’T WAIT!
As I went through the intro page, let me tell you how inviting it was. I love the bold colors and user friendly presence!
If I had to “request” something, I believe you said you have children??? I think I would LOVE to see maybe a comment section from one of them. You know, like what they may have learned and how God transpired for them. I would love to show my kids that there are others “out there” learning with the same materials! I don’t know…. just thought it would be neat! We can ALWAYS learn from our children and as a mom who is sometimes “challenged” by my own, I thought we could benefit and be able to share with what they had to say!
Thank you for your heart!
As a beginner home school mother, it is nice to know that the material is available and ready to use. I have not used the MOH yet. We are going to use it in the Fall. (my son will be in 1st grade) But I was at a friends home when she was using it and fell in love with the materials. I am excited to see what we will learn and the activities we will do together.
We used the first volume of Mystery of History this year as a supplement to studying Story of the World in our co-op. It was such a wonderful help, and gave so much more information about people we were studying. I like the way the author writes and words the story. We will be using volume 2 this coming year, and I so look forward to it. Thanks
I am so excited about using MOH 1 this year and would love to get a free copy of MOH II!
Hi,
We are finally going to get back to MOH 1 to finish and I would love to win MOH2
Thanks for blessing whomever wins.
I am switching from TOG to MOH for the next school year. I would love a FREE COPY of MOH 11 for my boys, Eli age 8 and Ben age 12. They are very excited about all of the cool hands-on activities recommended in MOH. Thanks for considering us!
My kids have loved MOH Vol 1. We are wanting to go through Volume II through the summer as we are doing Volume III with our co-0p next year. Thanks so much for offering this@ Have a blessed day!
We have just begun our journey back in time with MOH 1. We have four little monkeys, er, boys 🙂 and would love to hear from others homeschooling boys, as this presents its own challenges and blessings!
We would also love to win a free copy of MOH 2!
I have a daughter entering 3rd grade. We have been looking at MOH. I am looking forward to using all three volumes. I love the concept of combining Bible history with “world” history. I can’t wait to see what each book offers! THe extra activities, coloring pages, and craft ideas are a big hit for our home as well.
I don’t think I can ever read too much about how other people organize and plan. Making their own workbooks, setting up workboxes, planning! I love to read about what other people’s homeschool day and week look like. Finally, though this may be a bit outside the scope of what you want to address, how to do with children who aren’t enthusiastic about school – even the fun stuff. My 9yo has decided that anything school-related isn’t fun, no matter how many hands-on fun-type things we do. Today she got my hopes up, saying she was excited for one part of school today. I asked her which part, and she said, “Finishing it.” Sigh. This is probably under the heading of character training, which like I said may be outside the scope of what you want to talk about, but…it would be helpful to have some advice! 🙂
Blog ideas?
Using Illum and/or MOH with multiple ages. (I have a 12yo, 5yo, 2yo, and a 10month old)
Relevant book/movie reviews
High schooling with MOH: making it more challenging, aligning with grad requirements, etc.
A student’s perspective of MOH/Illum
Behind the scenes at Bright Ideas
A MOH graduate’s thoughts on how MOH has prepared them for college
What-to-do or encouragement for those bumps in the road
I’m sure there are more ideas but those are a few I’ve thought of right away. 🙂
I would like to see some posts on illuminations as we are going to redo MOH 1 next year (we did it a few years ago but had lots of diversions from life 🙂 and I’m deciding whether I want to use it next year–and if I do It would be great to have the support
Sydkoty98 loves this idea.
We are going to be using MOH 1 next fall and we are so excited.
This is our first year using MOH and we are really enjoying it. As we do our daily Bible reading our son is already remembering what we have studied in MOH and asking questions. This has really made the Bible come alive more for him. Thank you for all the hard work and contribution you make for homeschoolers. I would also like to see others input as to how they use supplements. We would love to win the MOH II!!!
Hello,
We used MOH 1 this year and absolutely loved it! We would love to win a copy of MOH 2 for next year! What a great history program!
I love to see people’s projects!! I am very excited about using MOH I! Sign me up!!
ctjensens are enjoying MOH1 and would love a free copy of MOH2!
I have not had the chance to use Illuminations…yet! But I love MOH 1! Most importantly so do my girls! Its the one subject that we all look forward to everyday. I would love to have a copy of MOH 2 for next year that would be such a blessing.
I just recently dicovered MOH and am very interested to find out more about it and Illuminations.
Angela
Would love to use MOH for our 2nd year of Homeschooling!! I have heard nothing but awesome things about MOH!! Thanks for the opportunity to win! 😉 Jessica S. Army wife! 🙂
Stacey, what a great idea! We have enjoyed MOH 1 this year and are moving on to MOH 2 next year. While I haven’t personally used Illuminations yet, I do love to look at their book lists for ideas. I’m so glad people like Linda Hobar and Maggie Hogan have taken the huge amount of time to make things so much easier for people like me! 🙂
Pick me! Pick me!

Hello! I have not use illuminations YET! I would love to read about how others have used it and what their pros and cons. Any advice would be great. I am looking foward to using it this next school year. Love It!
I would love a blog entry on how to use Mystery of History with kids 9 and under.
I have three boys ages 9, 6, and 4 as well as a little girl who is 28 months right now.
I would like to be able to do the activities with the two youngest included but I find it hard. Any tips and Tricks. I don’t want to put aside the MOH because of them and this past year I did that. This coming September I want to take it out and dig in it in a BIG way.
Thanks.
We have just entered the “Mystery of History” World
With Centuries of history to peruse!
God made such an amazing place
Thanks for taking God and Man’s history enfused!
We’d love to add Volume II in to our year! Thanks!
Blog posts….A day in the life of a MOH/Illuminations User or Getting it all organized
Blessings!
Mom2AbbyandBecca!
I love Mystery of History. We just finished Vol 1 today. I can’t wait to start MOH2. It would be even better if it were FREE!

I’ve used ILM1 this year, and enjoyed it so much I’m choosing ILM2 for next year, and incorporating more of the pre-scheduled subjects. Something that may be useful to a new user would be tips on how to tweak the schedule. It may seem complicated, as you cannot cut and paste. With the subjects I have chosen I will be printing out pages 1 and 3 of the schedule and hole punching the first sheet on the right hand side so that I can lay them open and see both pages at the same time. I have overtyped several of the subject boxes I won’t be using on page 3 with the subjects I will be using. Instead of typing instructions for every lesson (eg. for WriteShop) I have just left it blank or put “See detailed lesson plan”. Extra readers I’ve scheduled I just included in the notes section at the bottom.
Hi there, I love reading blogs of friends and families and now peopele who use the same books in their homeschool trek. My 12y old son loves to be homeschooled. He is special needs and his dad and I decided homeschooling would be the best thing for him and it has been. I love the MOH 1 book and would love to be entered in the drawing for the MOH 2 book. Thanks for doing this and considering my family to receive this blessing.
We are planning to use MOH 2 next year year, and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve heard great things about it.
I’d like to see posts on the specific benefits of using Illuminations – rather than doing it on my own…. how it all works together from people who are already using it with success… or little things that have gone wrong and why.
The first book was so awesome that I would love to have the 2nd book if possible.
What fun! I’m going to be using MOH 1 next year and plan to go all the way through with it. Would LOVE a free copy for the next year! : )
We would love to win a copy of Mystery of History 2! We are looking into Illuminations for next year to use with MOH. We will also be starting Christian kids Explore Chemistry and I am very excited after looking it over.
I saw your products at Mass HOPE this April and attended the Illuminations workshop and was very impressed with ease of use of your product and how flexible it is to customize.
Thanks!
My sons love MOH 1 and I’d love the second volume, too!
I have 3 boys ages 8, 12 and 13. We are just finishing up our first year of Illuminations. It has been a true blessing to our family. In previous years we used a textbook/boxed curriculum. After 3 years of the textbooks, the kids were ready for a change and so was I. Illuminations has given us the change our homeschool needed. The boys just love studying history in chronological order. You can see everything falling into place in their minds. The literature has been absolutely wonderful. They never want me to stop reading the read-alouds. The timeline is a favorite in our house. The boys are always arguing over who will get to make which timeline figure. Thank you Bright Ideas Press for providing the change that my children needed! The boys are excited about learning again — and looking forward to continuing our journey through history with Mystery of History Vol. II and Illuminations 2.
Hi,
We are finishing up our first year of using Mystery of History, Vol. I. My boys are in 4th and 2nd grade and we have been enjoying this study on ancient history. I love and (even my boys have commented) how Bible stories and characters are included. We have enjoyed the activities and our timeline is looking really cool! I would love to win Vol. 2. My boys can’t wait to get into the renaissance/medieval period. They love knights, castle and, swords!
Thank you!
I am considering MOH and would like to know more about Illuminations. Would love to win a copy of MOH 2!
I am looking forward to using the Illuminations program with my 2nd and 9th graders. I have been a SOTW user and supplemented with MOH. This year, I will reverse that!
I would love to hear ideas of how best to use Illuminations with young non-readers. Also would like to hear about daily schedules. We just started using MOH and love it!
We would love to have a copy of MoH II. Please consider us for the drawing! -JeanetteC
We are going to start using MOH 1 this fall and I can’t wait!! It looks awesome! I keep pulling it off the shelf and looking through it. A free copy of MOH II would be great! I know my son is going to love MOH.
Our small history co-op is VERY excited to be using MOH 1 this year, so copies of MOH 2 would give us a heads-up for next year. MOH rocks!!
Hi! I am new to home schooling this year and a couple of months ago I came across the Mystery of History website . I was very excited and impressed with the curriculum. It was exactly what I was looking for. My prayer to find a copy locally was answered right away as I found a mother in my home schooling support group who was ready to sale her MOH 1 materials. I started MOH two weeks ago with my two sons, age 13 and 7. They have enjoyed the lessons and my youngest son asks for me to read it to him and he also said he wished we could do MOH all day. I am also enjoying it. I have heard about Illuminations and have checked into it. I am not sure I will be using it this year though. Any information that you place on your blog would be beneficial to me since I am new to home schooling. I am planning to be in a co-op with a couple of friends in the fall. We are going to study MOH 2 so I would love to win a free copy. Thank you for all that you do.
Cindy
Hi! I’m in Canada, but I’m willing to pay for the shipping if I win.
I would love to hear how to implement MOH and illuminations. What a “normal” day and week look like.
I’d love to win a copy of MOH 2. We are doing it next year and would love to save a little $$. Thanks for doing this.
This upcoming school year we will adventure into MOH II! I stumbled upon Illuminations on accident while “surfing” the web. I would love to see ideas or blogs of compiling a notebook. I have many notebooking resources, including the new folderbooks for MOH I, but if only there were a notebooking package available to purchase that included coordinating notebook pages with integrated folderbooks–similar to what Apologia put out for their Elementary Science program.
ALSO, I would be hands down tempted by an available package for MOH Illuminations that sold the “WHOLE” program books and all. I don’t have time to go buy/library loan all of the needed literature/curriculum books. With a few selections/options that could be swapped for compensating grade levels–this would be IMO a relief in the trenches of buying homeschool coordinated/integrated materials! Add to this the notebook package above and I’m sold!!!

Hi,
Just wanted to say that we are wrapping up our MOH Vol. 1 and it has been great! I will be looking into Illuminations to supplement this year! My boys have enjoyed it so far! Thanks for being such a blessing to so many people!
God Bless, Janine Highley
Looking forward to doing ILM 2 next year!!
I would love to see kids blog about what it is like to live in a “Mystery” home. Does Dad ever wear a crown or carry a scroll; did a dog ever lick the sugar cube pyramids; have you ever hidden a cartoon character on the Wall of Fame; what do you do with all the crafts you make?
I would also love to see some blogs about using Illuminations in a co-op setting. It is such a wonderful tool and teaching aid. Thank you!
Our family has been using Illumination 1 and we have learned so much…especially with the mapping and timeline!
Blessings
loren
We just received our first MOH 1. I cannot wait to get into it. We are also going to start with Illuminations 1 next year. What a blessing to find you!.
Terri Contini
I found out about Illuminations in its beta phase. What a great program! MOH is our favorite part of school, so it’s a blessing to have that as a main focus.

I thought about using MOH for Medieval Times, so thia would be just awesome!!!
What a nice idea. I wish I could fine a sample of the Illuminations curriculum , because it really sounds interesting. Please let me know if there are samples. thanks a lot!!!!!

———————————————–HAPPY HOMESCHOOLING————————————————
I was sent to your website by Linda Hobar. She speaks so highly of Illuminations! I believe I will be starting Illuminations in the fall! Thanks so much!!!!
Tami Webb
I would so love any copy of MOH II. I just read your sons memories of homeschool, and hope that I too can make those type of sweet memories for my children.
We are using MOH I this year and will continue with MOH II next year. MOH is my kids’ favorite part of homeschool. We save it for last in the day as the reward for getting homeschool done. My kids don’t think of MOH as school because it’s so much fun! 🙂
I’d love to read how others are using Illuminations in their homeschool – the practical helps and suggestions for newbies like me!
we just started using mystery of history and my childen love it , my autistic 6 year old gets more out of the MOH then any other curriculm we have used. I also am soo thankful that you posted some of your ideas to make school fun , we are going to try to use the chocolate chip reward today and see how that works , thank you
Hello,
I just joined the group today and I am not sure how my name will appear. But I have been interested in MOH for a while, but never taken the plunge. There is so much out there to chose from and it can be confusing at times. I have always wanted to teach history as it happened and is happening all around the world and MOH does just that. I am looking forward to using it with my children this years and in years to come.
I would love to see a “getting started” blog about Illuminations….quick and easy to read to help new people.
I am really interested in your products and would love to win this!!!
My boys & I are looking forward to starting MOH 1 this fall. What a blessing it would be to win a free copy of MOH 2!
Looking forward to seeing Illuminations 3…will it be ready soon?
Would love to read about All American History. We’re ordering it from Bright Ideas Press but haven’t used it before. We needed a US history curriculum while we wait for Linda to work on MOH4. 🙂 Thanks! Angie
I am really interested in hearing more about Illuminations.
Thanks!
Wow this program sounds fantastic! Cant wait to learn more…My girls love history already but this sounds like they would surely love it. Thanks for the opportunity! God Bless
We are just finishing up MOH1 and have loved it! We are looking forward to using MOH2 next year! What a fun way to learn about History from a Biblical perspective! Awesome!
Thanks!
We will be starting MOH1 and will order all volumes this fall. Love it, love it!
I would like to hear from the kids who are using Illuminations. What are they doing for activities? Are the lessons impacting their lives for God? What have you done that was the most fun? What was the worst activity? Same for lessons?
We have been using MOH 1 Illuminations. Love it. It would be such a blessing to win year 2.
