How Wolverine Can Help You Homeschool

When it comes to super heroes, everybody’s got one. Jesus is my #1 real life hero and without Him, there would be no home, no homeschool memories, and no wisdom to share. But sometimes, God uses unlikely heroes, like Wolverine, to teach us life lessons.
I would fail a Wolverine trivia quiz, but I know enough about him that his portrait hangs above my calendar/planner spot in the dining room, right next to Doctor Who.
What Wolverine Has Taught Me
Here’s what Wolverine has taught me about life — at least the bits that apply to home education.
Sometimes …
- Life hurts and there are times we can do very little about it except adapt our expectations.
- Those very hurts can become the tools we use for good.
- We can get so caught up doing good that we lose sight of our goal.
- Life is hard and we have to get away for a little R&R.
- We — or our children— may have an unappreciated hidden talent because we hide it behind our claws. Did you know Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) can sing? Now, that was a nice surprise!
It’s Always Best to …
- Have a team.
- Recognize our team’s abilities.
- Assess our team’s needs.
We Should Remember …
- Our strengths can also be our weaknesses.
- Our weaknesses can be our strengths— if we get the right training.
- We need to hone our strengths with others who understand us.
- We need to strengthen our weaknesses around people unlike us.

Hands down, Wolverine IS my favorite… with Captain America a close second.
